When POV is the better choice
- The disposable-camera feeling is the whole point: limited shots, no retakes, a surprise when the album opens.
- The party is small: POV is free for up to 10 guests and costs a few dollars for 25.
- You want the reveal to be an event in itself, for example the morning after the wedding.
When a gallery fits better
- You want every photo and video, including the twenty shots your aunt took of the first dance, not a curated handful.
- There will be a lot of video: speeches, the first dance, the band. POV's public pages don't mention video at all.
- The guest list is long: a per-guest price adds up, while My Wedding Memories charges once per wedding with no guest limit.
- You want to know exactly how long the files stay online and how you get them out.

Start for freeUsing both on the same day
The two don't compete for the same moment. A common setup is POV cards on the tables for the game during dinner, and a gallery QR code on the bar and the welcome sign for everything else, including the photos guests only find on their phones the next morning. If you go this way, keep the two codes visually different, so nobody uploads twenty photos into a camera that only takes ten.
Games in My Wedding Memories
If what draws you to POV is that it gives guests something to do, the Pro package has its own version of that: photo missions such as a selfie with the oldest guest or the best dance move, scored per table on a leaderboard guests see live on the wedding page, plus a meme roulette that hands each guest a scene to act out on video. The difference from POV is that every photo still lands in the gallery.
Reception games that get guests taking photosFrequently asked questions
What is a good alternative to the POV camera app for a wedding?
If you want every photo and video rather than a limited number of shots, use a QR photo gallery such as My Wedding Memories, Guestpix or WeddingPhoto App. If you like the disposable-camera game, keep POV for the tables and add a gallery for everything else.
Does POV support video?
POV's wedding and pricing pages, checked on October 22, 2026, describe photos, shot limits and the reveal, and don't mention video. Check with POV if video matters to you.
Is POV cheaper than a wedding gallery?
For small events, yes: POV is free for up to 10 guests and $4.99 for 25. For larger weddings the per-guest pricing rises to $89.99 for 250 guests, while My Wedding Memories charges once per wedding, from $37, with no guest limit.
